38 new schools approved under Budget 2026 to ease overcrowding

He said the number of new schools built each year previously stood at only around nine to 12, but the figure has risen with 38 new schools approved under Budget 2026.
"The MOE under the Madani Government has in recent years focused on building new schools in areas with large populations.
"For example, before 2022, the number of new schools built each year was in the range of nine to 12 schools.

Commenting on the SJKC Eco Grandeur project, Kah Woh said it is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2028.
The school, developed through a public-private partnership worth RM18 million, can accommodate up to 960 pupils at any one time.
"Another secondary school will be built in Bandar Puncak Alam under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12). The construction project has been approved and is now at the pre-construction stage," he said.
