Editorial Policy
This policy explains how our journalism is produced, checked and corrected.
Use of artificial intelligence
Our articles are produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) under a human-defined editorial policy. Every article states this at the foot of the page.
Our system is prohibited from inventing facts, quotes, figures or names. Each article is written from reviewed source material, and articles that fail this requirement are not published.
Sensitive issues
Stories touching on race, religion and the royal institutions (3R) are never published automatically. They are held for human review before publication.
Corrections
If you find a factual error, contact us at [email protected] with the article link and a brief description.
Confirmed factual errors are corrected as quickly as possible, and significant corrections are noted on the article.
Photographs
We use freely licensed photographs (Wikimedia Commons, Openverse) as illustrations. Every photograph carries its credit and licence in the caption. Illustrative photographs do not necessarily depict the specific event reported.
