TAMPIN – A man was fined RM2,000 by the Gemas Magistrate's Court here today after pleading guilty to criminal intimidation through telephone calls made using the WhatsApp application against a woman and her father last month.
Magistrate Nor Farhana Mohd Ishak also ordered three months' jail should the accused, K. Kevin Joel, 21, fail to pay the fine.
According to the first charge, the accused intentionally made a telephone call via WhatsApp to a 19-year-old woman with the intent to criminally intimidate her at a house in Taman Gembira, Gemencheh, Tampin at about 3pm on July 25.
On the second charge, he was accused of committing the same offence against the victim's father at the same location at 10.27pm on July 29.
Both offences were framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to two years' jail or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Threat to circulate images, RM10,000 demand
