Four company owners have pleaded not guilty to charges of making false claims under the government's Daya Kerjaya 2.0 programme, Berita Harian reported.
Wong Joon Hong, 40; Goh Chee Wai, 43; Neoh Wooi Lee, 50; and Phua Ai Ling, 45, claimed trial after the charges were read out before judge Irwan Suainbon.
Daya Kerjaya 2.0 is a government initiative to encourage the hiring of workers from vulnerable groups, offering employers an incentive of RM1,500 a month for six months.
Neoh, who owns Golden One Stop Services, D One Solution, As You Wish Enterprise and Syarikat Century SS Solution, faces 21 charges.
Goh, the owner of Tojeda Enterprise Sdn Bhd, faces six charges, while Wong, who owns J H Food Court, faces two. Phua, the owner of Great Solutions Management, faces one charge over the same offence.
All of the accused are alleged to have submitted Daya Kerjaya 2.0 employee verification forms in the names of their respective companies to a Socso agent, containing false statements with the intent to deceive the agent's principal.
The offences were allegedly committed at several business premises in the northeast district of Penang between March 1 and Aug 26, 2024.
They were charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, punishable under Section 24(2) of the same Act.
The judge allowed Neoh bail of RM28,000 for all charges, while the three other accused were each granted bail of RM7,000 with one surety.
The court set Sept 17 for the submission of documents.
