RM702,000 in helmets, counterfeit goods seized in Klang warehouse raid

KLANG – The storage and distribution of motorcycle helmets that did not comply with safety marking regulations, along with counterfeit goods worth more than RM700,000, were uncovered in a raid on a warehouse in this district yesterday.

The raid, carried out at about 3pm, was conducted by the Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) with the cooperation of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Selangor KPDN director Muhamad Hanif Asa'ari said the operation led to the seizure of 1,413 motorcycle helmets valued at RM211,950.

He said officers also seized 700 units of various goods believed to have wrongly used registered trademarks, with an estimated value of RM490,000.

"Seven individuals, including three company directors aged in their 20s to 40s, have been questioned to assist investigations.

"The total value of the seizure amounts to RM701,950," he said in a statement tonight.

He said the case is being investigated under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 and Section 102(1)(c) of the Trademarks Act 2019.

"Selangor KPDN issues a stern warning to any individual or company to always comply with the laws that have been set and never to be involved in the distribution of goods that break the law," he stressed.
