Construction of IOI City Mall 3 has become a talking point on social media after a brief post on Threads caught the public's attention.

The user wrote: "IOI City Mall 3 otw gais. Lepas ni jalan 1 mall kumpul 20k steps" — roughly, the new phase is on the way, and walking one mall will now clock 20,000 steps.

That was enough to spark both excitement and jokes among netizens imagining just how far shoppers will have to walk once the new phase is completed. For some, a trip out to eat, shop or catch a movie could be enough to hit their daily step target.

'Why not extend it to UPM?'

In the comments section, one response stood out when a user asked: "Kenapa dia tak sambung sampai UPM je?" — why not just extend it all the way to UPM?

The remark drew plenty of laughs. If the mall really did stretch to Universiti Putra Malaysia, commenters suggested, it would be less a shopping centre than a marathon route.
