Ismail Sabri to be charged at Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be charged tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.
A check of the court system showed that the charges against the Bera MP will be read before Judge Suzana Hussin at 9am.
The case against Ismail Sabri is believed to be related to his asset declaration.
He had previously been called in several times to have his statement recorded over the asset declaration he submitted to the MACC.
The commission also seized RM170 million in cash in various foreign currencies, as well as 16kg of pure gold bars estimated to be worth RM7 million, in connection with a corruption and money laundering investigation involving him.
The seizures were made during searches at a residence and an office believed to have been used as a "safe house", following investigations into four of Ismail Sabri's senior officers who were detained in February 2025.
Meanwhile, lawyer Ragunath Kesavan, who represents Ismail Sabri, confirmed to Bernama when contacted that his client would be charged tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
An accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court.
