Finance Ministry denies RM100 SARA aid for National Day
MOF says a poster claiming a special RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah payout for National Day is fake.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry (MOF) has denied claims that the government will give out RM100 in Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid in conjunction with National Day.
In a social media post, the ministry said a poster making the claim was fake, and advised the public not to believe or circulate it.
"The Finance Ministry wishes to stress that there has been no official announcement on the provision of SARA as claimed in the poster," the post said.
The ministry urged Malaysians to be more careful with information received through social media, particularly on matters involving government financial assistance.
"The public is advised to always obtain verified information through the Finance Ministry's official channels before sharing, to avoid the spread of fake news that can confuse the public," it added.
The denial follows the circulation of the poster, which claimed that a special cash payment would be channelled to recipients to mark the National Day celebration.
MOF stressed that any announcement concerning aid such as SARA would only be made through the ministry's official channels.
