SHAH ALAM – Motorists using the Eco Grandeur interchange on the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar) must start paying toll as collection at the Eco Grandeur Toll Plaza begins at 12.01am today.

The move is in line with the terms of the concession agreement and to ensure the expressway's operations, maintenance and services can be sustained.

Collection begins after users enjoyed more than eight months of toll exemption since the interchange opened on 11 November last year.

LATAR chief operating officer Ahmad Fuad Ahmad Shahimi said the collection was part of the official operation of the Eco Grandeur Toll Plaza, which has brought significant benefits to road users.

He said the interchange supports development growth in Selangor's northern corridor by providing more efficient links between industrial, commercial and residential areas nearby since it opened last year.

"The opening of the Eco Grandeur interchange has improved accessibility and eased the movement of users, particularly residents and the business community around Eco Grandeur, Eco Business Park V, Puncak Alam, Ijok and Kuala Selangor," he said in a statement today.

"After the toll exemption period of more than eight months, toll collection is now being implemented according to the rates approved by the Government." (Translated from Malay.)

The rates

The toll is RM1.15 for Class 1 vehicles, RM2.30 (Class 2), RM3.45 (Class 3), RM0.57 (Class 4) for taxis, while Class 5 for buses is RM1.15.

Ahmad Fuad said the Eco Grandeur Toll Plaza is equipped with 10 toll collection lanes.

"This involves five lanes in each direction, offering various payment methods including Touch 'n Go, SmartTAG, RFID as well as debit and credit cards to ensure toll transactions run smoothly and efficiently," he said.

Kosmo! reported in November last year that the 3.07km stretch would link Latar with the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH), followed by the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.
