A Malaysian man has been arrested at Singapore's Woodlands Checkpoint after about 10kg of drugs were found in his car.
Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said when the suspect's car was ordered to undergo additional checks at the checkpoint, officers found a box with two blocks of substances believed to be drugs in the vehicle's boot.
Central Narcotics Bureau officers then uncovered more drugs in the car's boot, confiscating a total of 8.6kg of cannabis and 1.5kg of methamphetamine, Singapore's Straits Times reported.
"The drugs seized have an estimated worth of more than S$361,000 and could potentially feed the addiction of about 2,132 abusers for a week," said the ICA.
If convicted, the Malaysian man could be sentenced to death. In Singapore, the death penalty is mandatory for drug trafficking above certain quantities — 500g for cannabis and 250g for meth.
