Man pleads not guilty to 21 counts of molesting his two daughters

IPOH – A 41-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to 21 counts of physical sexual assault against his two daughters at the Ipoh Sessions Court, Sinar Harian reported.
The plea was entered before Ipoh Sessions Court judge Jean Sharmila Jesudason.
The accused is alleged to have committed the offences against his daughters, aged 13 and 16, at a house in Seri Iskandar, Perak Tengah, between the first week of April and July 26.
He was charged under Sections 14(a), 14(b) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, punishable under the same sections read together with Section 16(1) of the Act, as a relationship of trust existed between the accused and the victims.
If convicted, he faces up to 20 years' jail and whipping. Under Section 16(1) of the same Act, he may also be sentenced to an additional jail term of up to five years and a minimum of two strokes of the cane.
The man, who is still married, has three children, including the two alleged victims, who are his eldest and second child.
Deputy public prosecutor Monisha Pandey did not offer bail and applied for additional conditions barring the accused from disturbing or contacting the victims and prosecution witnesses, and requiring him to report to the nearest police station every month.
The judge allowed bail at RM15,750 and granted the additional conditions sought by the prosecution.
The court set Sept 14 for re-mention of the case and for the appointment of counsel.
