IPOH – Five people have been detained over the death of a resident at a care home in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak.

Perak police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin said preliminary investigations found several injuries on the victim's body.

"We are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the incident and the role of each individual involved," he said in a statement reported by Berita Harian.

"A post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death."

The 54-year-old victim was pronounced dead by personnel from the Tanjung Rambutan health clinic at about 2pm.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Alwi urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information about the case, saying it could interfere with police investigations.
