Nurul Izzah asked to resign, PKR leadership grants temporary leave

PETALING JAYA – Parti Keadilan Rakyat's (PKR) Central Leadership Council (MPP) today decided to grant temporary leave to its deputy president, Nurul Izzah Anwar.
PKR communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the decision was made at an MPP meeting after it discussed Nurul Izzah's application to step down from the post.
"The MPP also decided that vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will carry out the duties of deputy president on a temporary basis," he said in a statement here today.
Fahmi said the MPP also agreed that the post of PKR election director would be taken on fully by vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
On the 2026 National Congress, Nurul Izzah is expected to officiate the PKR Women's and Youth (Angkatan Muda) congresses on Aug 14.
At the same meeting, the MPP approved 3,533 new members who registered online for the period from July 12 to this month.
Fahmi also said the MPP accepted and respected the results of the recent Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
"The party also expresses its thanks to the teams that worked tirelessly during the two state polls. Appreciation is also extended to former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun for his excellent service over two terms," he said.
