Comedian Cik Man dies at 67 in Tanah Merah Hospital

PETALING JAYA: Actor and comedian Cik Man, whose real name is Kamarool Haji Yusoff, died at Tanah Merah Hospital in Kelantan at about 5pm, aged 67.

His death was confirmed by his second son, Fakhrol Aliff, who said his father died after suffering a blocked heart condition.

"I had just come back from the hospital to shower at home. Then my sister called and asked me to come back to the hospital because our father was gone.

"I think he died at about 5pm," he told Utusan Malaysia when contacted today. (Quotes translated from Malay.)

Fakhrol said his father had not suffered any serious illness since a heart attack two years ago, but had complained of stomach and back pain in recent days.

"He was not seriously ill before this. The last time he had a heart attack was two years ago. After that, his heart check-ups were all fine, he only often had gastric-like symptoms.

"Yesterday his condition worsened. He complained of stomach and back pain, like trapped wind. When we asked him to go to the hospital, he did not want to. It was only yesterday that he could no longer bear it," he said.

He said the remains will be buried at 11am tomorrow in his hometown of Tanah Merah, Kelantan.

Cik Man had previously shared that he commuted from his home in Kelantan to Kuala Lumpur whenever he had filming commitments.

He was known as one of the popular comedians of the 1980s and drew the attention of a new generation through his role as Cik Man in the film Rock Oo, directed by the late Mamat Khalid.
