Lorry driver pleads not guilty to 21 counts of sexual assault on two daughters

IPOH – A lorry driver pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to 21 charges of physical sexual assault against his two daughters since April.
The 41-year-old accused entered the plea after all the charges were read out before Judge Jean Sharmila Jesudason.
According to the charges, the father of three allegedly committed physical sexual assault against his two biological daughters, aged 13 and 16.
He is alleged to have committed the offences at a house in Seri Iskandar, in the Perak Tengah district, between the first week of April and July 26, 2026.
Charges under Act 792
The charges were framed under Sections 14(a), 14(b) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792) and are punishable under the same sections, read together with Section 16(1) of the Act as a relationship of trust existed between the accused and the victims.
If convicted, the accused faces up to 20 years' jail and whipping. Under Section 16(1) of the same Act, the court may also impose an additional sentence of up to five years' jail and a minimum of two strokes of the cane.
Bail and conditions
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Monisha Pandey, while the accused, who is still married, was not represented by counsel.
The prosecution said no bail was offered and applied for additional conditions — that the accused be barred from disturbing or contacting the victims and prosecution witnesses, and that he report to the nearest police station once a month.
The court subsequently allowed bail of RM15,750 with the additional conditions as sought by the prosecution.
The case has been fixed for mention on Sept 14 for the appointment of counsel.
