KANGAR – Police have reclassified the investigation into the discovery of human remains on July 26 and the discovery of several bones believed to be human yesterday at Behor Mali here under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Kangar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Md. Yusop said the move was taken after the second discovery, which occurred within less than two weeks in the same area.
"Police received information at 12.55pm after a man contacted the Simpang Empat police station to report the discovery of several bones protruding from a worn and torn white sack," he said when contacted today.
According to him, an inspection at the site found several bones together with a pair of boxer shorts, a pair of short pants and a belt inside the sack, which is believed to have been left there for a long time.
The find was made by a 61-year-old man while he was clearing, cutting undergrowth and spraying weedkiller on land belonging to his daughter, which had been bought about two months ago.
"The forensic team found that the location of the second discovery was about 31.1 metres from the location of the first human remains reported on July 26," Yusharifuddin said.
