PETALING JAYA – A motorcyclist holding an L (learner) licence who allegedly ran a red light outside a school has drawn public anger, prompting a wave of complaints lodged with the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

The incident allegedly took place outside SK Seri Budiman at 3.50pm yesterday and went viral after Threads user @Wan_muliani shared a video showing the motorcycle believed to have continued riding despite the red light, while other vehicles had stopped to let pupils cross.

"I was recording my child coming home from school when suddenly a motorcycle sped through even though the light was red. All the other riders stopped. The rider still holds an L licence. I hope the relevant authorities take note of this motorcycle," she said. (Translated from Malay)

The comments section was flooded with social media users uploading screenshots showing they had lodged complaints with JPJ through the MyJPJ application.

"I have made a report. Hopefully the individual's licence is revoked as a lesson," said @Chaaaachaaaaaaa_.

"Report submitted. May this serve as a lesson to all road users," said @Ainulsenan.

Meanwhile, @Farid_nor85 urged JPJ to take firm action against the rider.

"Cancel his licence, people like this will bring a lot of problems to society," he said.

Another user, @Nasrullahazli, encouraged the public to lodge complaints via the MyJPJ app as the details of the incident had been shared in full.

"Just lodge a report through the MyJPJ app as all the details of the incident have been included," he said.
