Johor Police Nab Two Men Over Body Found in Batu Pahat River

Johor police have arrested two men, including the person believed to have planned the murder, following the discovery of a man's body in a river in Batu Pahat.
Johor deputy police chief Hoo Chuan Huat said the two men were arrested at different locations in the state.
He said initial investigations found that the murder could have been motivated by a debt owed by one of the suspects to the victim.
"The amount of the debt is still being investigated," he was quoted by Bernama as saying at the Johor police headquarters today.
Hoo said police were also ascertaining whether any other suspects were involved in the case.
The two men were remanded for six days from today until Aug 10 to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He said the victim's body was found with his hands and feet bound with adhesive tape and bore several injuries to the waist and arms.
Hoo said the victim's wife lodged a police report on July 29 after he went missing in Mutiara Rini, Iskandar Puteri. The case was initially treated as a missing person case.
