District, state education offices to pick 10 top schools for School Reform Programme

KUALA SELANGOR – The selection of 10 outstanding schools nationwide for the School Reform Programme will be carried out by District Education Offices (PPD) and State Education Departments (JPN).

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said the initial selection would be made by each PPD, involving five primary schools and five secondary schools, before the list is submitted to the JPN for further evaluation.

He said the selection is based on academic excellence, co-curricular achievement and student character, with each school chosen to receive an allocation of RM100,000.

"The PPD will give this list of 10 outstanding schools to the JPN. After that, the JPN will submit the list to the Education Ministry (MOE).

"The selection of all these schools has been done," he told reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony for SJKC Eco Grandeur here today. (Translated from Malay)

Kah Woh said the programme was introduced to spur schools to keep improving academic and co-curricular excellence as well as the character-building of pupils.

He said the government remains committed to elevating the national education agenda and strengthening the cultivation of good conduct and noble values among the school community.
