Tabung Haji RCI: LHDN opens probe into identified individuals
The Inland Revenue Board says the investigation began after tax risk analysis flagged asset ownership that did not match reported income.

KUALA LUMPUR — The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has begun investigating individuals identified following the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
In a statement today, LHDN said the investigation was carried out based on tax risk analysis, which detected a mismatch between the individuals' asset ownership and the income they had declared.
According to the statement, LHDN conducted raids on several related premises to obtain information, review documents and verify facts connected to the investigation.
"LHDN wishes to clarify that every review and investigation is carried out professionally, with integrity and in accordance with the tax laws in force, without prejudice to any party," it said.
"Any further action will only be decided based on the outcome of the investigation, the scrutiny of information and the evidence obtained throughout the review process," the statement said.
LHDN did not name any of the individuals under investigation, nor did it state how many premises were raided.
211-page RCI report
On July 29, the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) published the 211-page RCI report on the inquiry into TH's management and operations for the period from 2014 to 2020.
No charges have been filed against any party in connection with the tax investigation. LHDN stressed that further action would be determined only after the review and examination of evidence is complete.
