Rodziah says she only learnt of Ampang coordinator appointment via Facebook

Ampang MP Rodziah says she was not consulted before the appointment of a coordinator for government aid and development projects in her constituency, and only became aware of it when informed by her officer.

"I knew nothing about the appointment of a coordinator, except when my officer informed me when the statement came out on the Keadilan (PKR) Facebook page," she told FMT briefly. (Translated from Malay)

Yesterday, the Prime Minister's political secretary Azman Abidin was reported to have been given the responsibility of coordinating government aid and development projects in the Ampang parliamentary constituency. The move came shortly after Rodziah claimed she could no longer access constituency funds.

Azman said he would coordinate the effort together with the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department and relevant government agencies to ensure every government initiative reached the people.

Earlier, Rodziah complained that her constituency had been blocked from accessing the MyKHAS system since July 29. She said this affected the management of constituency allocations meant to help vulnerable groups, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, chronically ill patients and local institutions under the Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR).

She stressed that she remained a PKR member and part of the bloc supporting the government and the unity government's policies, and had never opposed the party throughout her 28 years of service.

She is not the only lawmaker to raise the issue. Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung and Subang MP Wong Chen were previously reported to have claimed they lost access to constituency allocations through the myKHAS system.

Lee claimed the restriction affected matters relating to constituency allocations and the PMR, while questioning whether it was linked to political factors.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, however, rejected the claim, saying instead that allocations were channelled directly to communities and development projects.
