SEREMBAN – The defamation suit filed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and its chairman, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, against political activist Chegubard has been settled through mediation.
Chegubard, whose real name is Badrul Hisham Shaharin, said both plaintiffs agreed to settle the case out of court today.
The suit was filed by MCMC and its chairman at the Seremban High Court on May 14, 2025, over a posting on Chegubard's Facebook account.
Lawyer Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, who represented Chegubard, said the plaintiffs and Chegubard as the defendant agreed to seek a resolution through a mediation session held today.
"Actually, the trial in this case had already been fixed for four days, from Aug 10 to 13, at the Seremban High Court.
