Sanusi sends legal letters to Nga, Marina over 'distorted' remarks

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has served letters of demand on Nga Kor Ming and Marina Mahathir, as well as on one Salim Abd Rahman, over what he described as the twisting of remarks he made at a ceramah during the Negeri Sembilan election campaign.

He wants the trio to apologise within seven days, failing which lawsuits will be filed, Berita Harian reported.

"Today, the letters of demand were served on Nga and Salim. Marina will receive it tomorrow if we cannot serve it on her today," he said.

Sanusi, who is also PAS election director, said several more people would receive letters of demand for twisting his remarks, adding that there was "a long list of names".

"Those who distorted the facts, added to my statement, or took advantage of my statement will receive a letter of demand.

"We are giving them seven days to apologise. Otherwise, we will meet in court," he said.

Sanusi stirred controversy during the Negeri Sembilan election campaign after suggesting that certain ethnic groups in Malaysia could fall back on ancestral homelands outside the country.

The two-term menteri besar was reported to have said that "the Chinese have China, the Indians have India, the Cambodians have Cambodia, and the Malays only have Malaysia".

He, however, denied that his remarks were intended to question the citizenship or rights of Malaysian Chinese and Indians.

Police launched an investigation over the remarks and recorded his statement on Sunday.
