'I've moved out, the landlord evicted me' – Rahim Omar

KUALA LUMPUR – Veteran actor Rahim Omar has pledged that he will not run away from settling RM7,000 in rental arrears that recently drew public attention.

Rahim, 66, said the better fortunes he has enjoyed this year have given him room to stabilise his family's finances and resolve the matter.

"Right now I am only starting to stabilise my finances again because I suffered losses of up to RM500,000, but I did not tell anyone about it.

"I am confident this issue can be settled, it's just that the person is impatient, he doesn't understand my situation... God willing, I will meet him and settle it. The Takluk: Lahad Datu actor said he had intended to pay in stages, but was disappointed by the landlord's attitude.

"I wanted to pay bit by bit and go to see him, but he was arrogant. I came from far away to meet and wait for him, but the way he spoke was rather arrogant," he said.

Rahim recalled how difficult things had been when acting jobs dried up from July last year, to the point that his child received zakat aid of RM800 a month.

"At that time, people may not believe it, but RM300 was really hard for me. This year, thank God, I am becoming more stable," he said.

He said he had accepted the episode as a test for his family.

"By God, I am not disappointed, I accept it. I told my wife and children to be patient, this is a test," he said.

Rahim said he has since moved into more comfortable accommodation.

"I moved because he chased me out. On the day he told me to leave, he made all sorts of threats, but I didn't tell anyone. But thank God, when I left, someone helped by giving me a more comfortable house," he said.

Earlier, an individual had uploaded screenshots of a conversation with Rahim, claiming the actor had failed to pay rent for two years. The post appeared after Rahim was named a participant of Kilauan Emas Selebriti 2026. The same individual had previously posted similar screenshots in March.
