Selangor reviews flood mitigation projects under RM33.31 billion second state plan

SHAH ALAM – The Selangor government is reviewing existing flood mitigation projects in the state to deliver a comprehensive Flood Infrastructure Project under the Second Selangor Plan (RSK2) covering 2026 to 2030.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government was still improving water drainage management to reduce flash flood incidents, including rolling out more comprehensive early warnings.
Among the plans under RSK2 is the Selangor Flood Mitigation Plan (SelFMiP), a strategic blueprint that will embed climate risk perspectives into every policy and district development plan.

"We will certainly look at it again because it involves comprehensive flood mitigation projects that are not limited to river areas.
"If we look at several recent cases, the rivers were clear. But the problem occurred in local council areas. Water flow was delayed before entering the river. So we have to resolve it comprehensively," he said.
