RM3,764 in donations sends Bachok teaching hopeful to Sarawak

BACHOK – The dream of teaching hopeful Noorazrin Yasmin Mohd. Zain, 20, to report to the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) Kampus Batu Lintang in Kuching has finally come true after donations from various parties covered her travel costs and initial study needs.

The youngest of five siblings from Kampung Padang Lati, Kuchelong here breathed a sigh of relief when donations collected so far reached RM3,764, allowing her family to buy the flight ticket to Sarawak.

Noorazrin said she and her family were deeply grateful for the concern shown by the public, who came forward to help as soon as their story was published by Kosmo!.

"Alhamdulillah, so far we have received donations of RM3,764. The money is enough to buy the flight ticket and pay the registration fee.

"I am truly moved because so many people who do not know us were willing to help so that I could continue my studies," she said when contacted yesterday. (Translated from Malay)

Noorazrin said she was scheduled to depart from Penang International Airport today before reporting to IPG Kampus Batu Lintang on Aug 10.

She recorded her appreciation to a retired teacher known as Cikgu Arman, who did much to drive the fundraising effort.

She said Cikgu Arman's friends, including those from Yayasan Kosma Pahang, contributed the largest share of the aid, alongside generous individuals.

"Insya-Allah I will study hard and repay all this kindness with success in the future," she said.

Kosmo! had earlier reported that Noorazrin almost gave up her wish to further her studies at IPG Kampus Batu Lintang after her family could not afford the airfare to Sarawak due to financial constraints.

At the time she had yet to buy a ticket for Aug 10, with fares reaching RM500 one way.
