Uqasha Senrose declines to comment on birthday tribute from ex-husband Kamal Adli

KUALA LUMPUR – Actress Uqasha Senrose has declined to comment on the birthday tribute posted by her former husband, Kamal Adli, last July.

Uqasha, whose full name is Nik Zaris Uqasha Nik Sen, 34, said she was unaware of the post as she has not been active on social media of late.

"I didn't even know he made such a post — what he uploaded. What he shared is all about himself.

"I don't want to say anything, I don't want to comment on anything. If he made a tribute, that is because he remembered me, that's all," she told reporters at the press conference for the new iQIYI drama Madu Atau Racun here today. (Quotes translated from Malay.)

Praised by netizens for co-parenting well with Kamal for their daughter, Hawra Uqaira, Uqasha said she tries her best to be a good mother and is grateful that her relationship with her ex-husband remains cordial for their child's sake.

She added that she does not consider herself perfect, instead viewing her post-divorce relationship with Kamal as a process of jointly carrying out their responsibilities as parents.

"I'm not saying I'm a good person, I see this as simply our process as Uqaira's parents.

"Alhamdulillah, after what happened we communicate for the sake of our child.

"He (Kamal) has never made things difficult for me and I have never troubled him, because whatever is for Uqaira, we try to do our best and be the best parents," she said.

Kamal previously drew attention when he thanked his former wife for giving him the opportunity to spend time with their daughter. The post received largely positive reactions from netizens, who praised his maturity in appreciating his ex-wife and prioritising a good relationship for their child.

Kamal and Uqasha married on 4 November 2021 in a private ceremony in Janda Baik, Pahang, and their divorce was confirmed on 12 January.
