PETALING JAYA – Yew Gadget (M) Sdn Bhd has served more than 20,000 customers and recorded 20,934 transactions since 2025, earning the company recognition as a 'Top Dealer' for several major brands including OPPO, Realme and YS Digital.

Its founder, Yew Boon Xiang, said the growth was driven by sales performance and the quality operating standards offered to customers.

According to him, business success does not rest on sales alone but is built on integrity, product quality and a commitment to customer service.

"A company's most valuable asset is not merely sales or profit, but the trust built with customers.

"A brand takes years to build, but trust can be lost in seconds.

"If we cheat a customer even once, they may never return and will no longer recommend our business to others. That is why protecting the brand's good name is the biggest responsibility," he said in an interview here recently.

Three main focus areas

Boon Xiang, better known as Boss Mario, said the company's benchmarks for strengthening its competitiveness in the used smartphone industry centre on three main areas — offering quality products, strengthening after-sales service, and developing a personal brand as a platform for education and knowledge-sharing with consumers.

"We also plan to expand Yew Gadget's operations nationwide so that more consumers can enjoy a used-phone buying experience that is trustworthy, transparent and safe," said the former mobile phone salesman of more than 13 years.

Since the company was set up in 2018, Boon Xiang handled almost every aspect of operations on his own, including phone inspections, customer service, sales and delivery. That drive meant he took almost no leave throughout the year to ensure every customer received the best product and experience.

"Consumers are always comparing price and quality. What we can do is ensure every phone sold meets high standards and is backed by responsible after-sales service," he explained.

He introduced the Boss Mario personal brand in 2022 through short-form video content focusing on entrepreneurship, company management and knowledge-sharing about the used smartphone industry.

He said consumers are more confident buying when the person behind a business comes forward to share knowledge, build relationships and take responsibility for the brand.

"Many customers are still hesitant when buying used phones because they worry about quality and after-sales service. When they get to know the individual behind the brand and see our own commitment to every customer, their confidence rises too," he said.
